Eric Charney is the Owner and Founder of Charney Law PLLC and has been affiliated with Office of Respondent Parent Counsel (ORPC) since January 1, 2021. He brings more than a decade of legal experience to his practice, with a background rooted in criminal defense, public service, and litigation-intensive advocacy.
Eric earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Colorado State University–Fort Collins in 2011, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2015. Following law school, he served as a Public Defender, where he developed a reputation for courtroom tenacity, strategic thinking, and steadfast commitment to clients navigating high-stakes legal matters.
Over the course of his career, Eric has practiced extensively in juvenile welfare, criminal law, and has since expanded his practice to include family law and probate, bringing a litigation-tested approach to emotionally complex and procedurally demanding cases. He is known for his ability to quickly synthesize complicated facts, anticipate opposing arguments, and advocate decisively in court. When focused on a case, Eric is a formidable litigator and tactician, respected for both his preparation and his presence before the bench.
At the core of Eric’s work is a belief that legal services should be accessible, practical, and human-centered. He finds deep professional satisfaction in resolving complex legal problems and helping clients reach outcomes that restore stability and forward momentum in their lives. His approach balances rigorous legal analysis with an understanding that real people, not just legal issues are at the center of every case.
Eric leads a women-driven firm, intentionally building a team that brings diverse perspectives, operational strength, and client-centered advocacy to every matter. He believes this structure enhances communication, accountability, and the quality of representation clients receive, particularly in cases involving families, vulnerable populations, and high emotional stakes.
Outside of practice, Eric is an avid food enthusiast, enjoys bowling, reading, and unwinding with prestige television dramas. Known for his dry sarcasm and quick wit, he pairs that edge with a genuine commitment to social advocacy and public service. He lives in Colorado with his wife and their two dogs, and is also a devoted car enthusiast.
